Privacy policy
This website is deliberately built to collect as little as possible: no ad networks, no profiling, no cross-site tracking, no cookies. Audience measurement runs on our own server and without cookies – which is why you see no cookie banner here. What data does occur is listed below.

The "report a climbing park" form
The report form lets you tell us about a missing site or a wrong detail.
| Data processed | Name of the site and its town (required); website, message, your name and e-mail address (optional); plus IP address and time of submission |
| Purpose | Checking and maintaining the entries, following up on your report, preventing abuse |
| Legal basis | Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR – our legitimate interest in an accurate directory and a working form |
| Recipients | The report is delivered as an e-mail to the operator and processed there. It is not passed on to third parties. |
| Retention | Until the report is dealt with, at most 12 months; the message is deleted afterwards |
Name and e-mail address are optional. Without an e-mail address we cannot come back to you with questions, but the report is still processed. Please do not use the form to send special categories of personal data (such as health data) or data about other people.
Server log files
When you open the website, the web server automatically records access data: the address requested, date and time, amount of data transferred, browser type, operating system, referrer and IP address. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR – the legitimate interest in secure and stable operation. This data is not combined with other sources and is deleted after a short period.
The site is hosted with our hosting provider in Austria, with whom a data processing agreement is in place.
Audience measurement (Matomo)
To see which climbing parks and articles are read and where the directory leaves questions open, we measure visits with Matomo, an open-source analytics tool. Matomo runs on our own server (stats.1hosting.com) in Austria. The data stays inside our own infrastructure, is not passed on to third parties, is not combined with other sources and is not transferred to countries outside the EU.
| Data processed | Page requested and time, time spent, referring page, links and downloads clicked, approximate origin (country, region and town), device type, screen resolution, browser and operating system, plus your IP address with the last digits removed |
| Purpose | Measuring reach, improving the content, the search and the structure of the directory |
| Legal basis | Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR – legitimate interest in a website that meets its visitors' needs |
| Cookies | None. Matomo is configured with the "disableCookies" setting and stores neither cookies nor any other identifier on your device. Consent under § 165(3) of the Austrian Telecommunications Act 2021 is therefore not required. |
| Recognition | Without a cookie, Matomo derives a short-lived, non-reversible daily identifier from the shortened IP address and browser data. You are not recognised beyond that day or across devices. |
| Retention | Raw data for at most 14 months; after that only anonymous aggregate reports remain, with no link to individual visits |
If your browser sends the "Do Not Track" signal, your visit is not counted in the first place.
Objecting
You can object to the measurement at any time. Just tick this box:
The choice is stored locally in your browser only (no cookie, nothing sent to us). It takes effect with the next page you open and is lost if you clear this site's browser data.
The setting could not be saved – your browser does not allow local storage. Enable “Do Not Track” instead, or write to us.
Maps (OpenStreetMap)
The maps on this site use tiles from the OpenStreetMap Foundation. When a page with a map loads, your IP address is transmitted to their servers; without this the map cannot be displayed. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in showing the locations clearly.
The operator is the OpenStreetMap Foundation, St John's Innovation Centre, Cowley Road, Cambridge, CB4 0WS, United Kingdom. An adequacy decision of the European Commission is in place for the United Kingdom. See the OSM Foundation privacy policy for details.
The map library (Leaflet) as well as all fonts and scripts are served from our own server – there is no connection to any further third party.
External links
The directory links to the operators' own websites. They alone are responsible for the data they process; their privacy policies apply there.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability, as well as the right to object to processing based on a legitimate interest. A short message to office@hochseilgaerten.com is enough.
If you believe the processing of your data infringes data protection law, you may lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority:
