The Seilpark Curtin Medelin is unlike most parks in the directory. You do not buy a ticket and start climbing; you sign up for a fixed start time and are accompanied by a team the whole way. The park lies in a gorge of the Medelser Rhein between Disentis and Curaglia and is run by the MUNTOGNAS mountain guide office in Disentis. It can only be booked there.
Climbing above the water
The course mixes climbing, abseiling, cable rides, suspension bridges and a via ferrata. Among other things, you ride a bicycle along a cable while the water roars below. After a joint introduction the team stays with the group and secures climbers at several points. The layout is star-shaped: every course leads back to the starting point, and you choose which ones to do, as often as you like.
This is not for small children. The minimum age is eight, and children up to ten only take part with adults. Sure-footedness and a head for heights are essential. Bring shoes with treaded soles and something to drink.
Thursdays in the guest programme
Individual guests join through the 'Bialas Vacanzas' guest programme of Sedrun Disentis Tourism: every Thursday at 9.30 am and/or 1.30 pm, for about two and a half hours. Register by 4 pm the day before. This year the dates run in summer from 2 July to 20 August and in autumn from 1 to 22 October. Other weekdays are available on request.
Adults pay CHF 38, children aged 8 to 15 CHF 32, both including climbing equipment hire. Groups of 15 or more – schools, clubs, companies – choose their own day and pay from CHF 29 per person. They can combine the rope park with building a Nepal bridge or abseiling from a dam wall.
Getting there by train
A footpath leads from Acla da Fontauna station to the rope park's suspension bridge. Nearby are the La Pendenta suspension bridge, according to the operator the longest in Graubünden, and the Caschlatsch wooden installation.
The Seilpark Curtin Medelin is new in the directory, together with more than 100 other parks from Italy and Switzerland. More parks in the canton are listed under Graubünden.
