Most ropes parks hang on trees. The Parco Avventura La Turna does lie in a sessile oak wood, but it is anchored only to rock. It opened in 2014 next to the La Turna sports ground in Montestrutto, a hamlet of Settimo Vittone in the Dora Baltea valley in northern Piedmont. The grounds also have a climbing crag, e-bike hire and a restaurant.
Seven courses, seven colours
Climbers are secured on a continuous safety line. The courses are named after colours and graded by age:
- Azzurro: for ages 3 to 6, with an adult
- Rosa, Verde and Arancio: from age 6; Arancio is a barefoot sensory course
- Blu chiaro: from age 8
- Blu scuro: from age 10, 800 metres with 14 elements up to 15 metres high
- Rosso: from age 12, also 800 metres long and up to 30 metres high
This way small children, siblings and adults can each find their own level in the same place.
You pay per course
Prices are per course and the same for every age. All seven courses together cost 18 €. Singly, Azzurro costs 5 €, Rosa, Verde and Arancio 6 € each, and Blu chiaro, Blu scuro and Rosso 8 € each. There are combinations in between: Rosa, Verde and Arancio for 12 €, plus Blu chiaro for 14 €, plus Blu scuro for 16 €. The equipment is yours for three consecutive hours. Regulars can buy a pass with ten entries plus one free for 85 €, or the family pass for parents and children for 110 €.
Open in winter too
The park does not close for the winter. From mid-June to mid-September it is open daily from 10 am to 6 pm, otherwise at weekends: from February to June until 6 pm, from October to January until 5 pm. Last admission with briefing is at 4.30 pm, in winter at 3 pm. The park stays closed in bad weather. On weekdays outside summer it is open to schools only; the operator advises calling ahead, for 15 people at most.
The Parco Avventura La Turna is new in the directory, together with more than 100 other parks from Italy and Switzerland. More parks in the region are listed under Piedmont.
