Kletterpark Purkersdorf: 20 minutes from Vienna, with no time limit
The closest climbing park to Vienna sits in the Wienerwald – and is one of the few in the directory that sets no climbing time at all. Three new pictures now show what it looks like.
Kletterpark Purkersdorf lies so close to Vienna that for many it is not an outing but an afternoon: 20 minutes out of the city, straight into the Wienerwald. Rüdiger Rader sent us three pictures, and since today the entry shows them.
No time limit – that is the rarity
Most facilities in this directory set two to three and a half hours, and the clock often starts at the equipment window. Purkersdorf sets no climbing time. If you want to walk a route twice, you walk it twice. The only boundary is the last briefing, around two hours before closing.
That sounds like a detail, but it is exactly the difference between an item on a schedule and an afternoon: anyone arriving with children does not have to calculate whether the higher courses will still fit.
From three years, graded by height
Below 110 centimetres children climb free of charge on the toddlers' course and the climbing playground. From 110 cm the low courses open up, from 140 cm the higher ones; up to 14 an adult comes along, and on the low courses accompanying from the ground is enough. The rate for three- to five-year-olds is 7 € – one of the lowest entry prices in the directory.
What the pictures show
Two of the three shots show the park in spring, when the beeches are just coming into leaf and the light still reaches the forest floor – the operator himself calls the atmosphere "jungle feeling". The third was taken in October and shows a course above the valley.
The park is open from April to October, in July and August daily from 10 am to 7 pm. There is food on site, and pizza can be ordered directly.
