Kletterwald Hohenfelden: seven courses above the reservoir
118 elements among spruces, zip lines up to 135 metres and an induction that does not come out of your climbing time. Aktivpark Hohenfelden sent us photos from its climbing forest.

Sindy Fücker from Aktivpark Hohenfelden sent us a selection of photos to choose from. The entry for Kletterwald Aktivpark Hohenfelden now shows two of them – many thanks for that!
High up among the spruces
The first photo shows a climber on a bridge of wooden boards that leads diagonally upwards between two trunks, with tall spruces and bright foliage all around. In the second, a climber balances across a swinging ladder of round logs hanging from green ropes. That is exactly how the climbing forest is built: seven courses with 118 elements, graded from fun through fitness, experience and adventure to risk.
The entry course is one to two metres off the ground, so parents can walk alongside their children. At the top, the facility reaches 15 metres, and the zip lines measure up to 135 metres.
The induction comes on top
Before the first course there is an induction course with three elements. The half hour this takes is added to the 2.5 hours of climbing time rather than deducted from it. Adults pay €30, children aged five to twelve €23. Family packages noticeably lower the price per head: two adults with two children pay €90. Companions who do not climb enter the grounds free of charge.
More than a climbing forest
The climbing forest is only one part of the Aktivpark at the Hohenfelden reservoir. There is also a 3D archery course, adventure golf, a bungee trampoline, a climbing playground and a petting zoo – enough for a whole family day out.
A tip for getting there: park in the paid car park at the south-eastern end of the reservoir; from there it is a seven-minute walk. Anyone parking directly at the park or on the forest track should expect a fine.
You will find more facilities in the Free State under Thuringia.
