Kletterwald Ossiacher See: beech forest with a lake view

14 courses in the beech forest above Lake Ossiach and a forest coaster for children from two. Five new pictures from Familywald show why the lake is always in the frame here.

Thomas from Familywald has sent us five pictures of Kletterwald Ossiacher See. Someone is climbing in four of them – and in almost all of them the lake shimmers through the trees.

Climbing above the water

The first picture shows a climber on a platform high in the leaves, below them the meadow, the shore and the houses on the far side of the lake. The second is a silhouette: a child on a rope bridge with nothing behind it but water and trees. More than 150 exercises on 14 courses in four levels of difficulty lie in this beech forest, just a five-minute walk from the centre of Ossiach.

The fly line

One photo shows the fly line, according to the operator Austria's first forest coaster: an adult and a child glide together along a rail through the trees. Children from the age of two can ride along – which makes the park one of the few places where even the very youngest get up into the treetops. The fly line costs 9 € extra.

Plus a day at the lake

The last picture has no ropes at all: it is the view from above across Lake Ossiach and the mountains behind it. That is what the rest of the day looks like. The dense canopy keeps the park pleasant on hot days, and with the Kärnten Card entry is free. Climbing starts at six, unaccompanied from 14; the season runs from late March to early November.

The photos come from the operator; the credit reads "© Familywald Ossiacher See".
