What makes the Hochseilgarten HanseRock special
The courses are named after continents. "America" is the easy start with South American footballs, "Europe" leads over alphorns and through the Berlin Wall, "Asia" across fishing nets and a dragon boat. "Africa" runs at up to eight metres and ends on one of the seven zip lines, and "Australia" at up to ten metres is the hardest.
Right in the city. The site lies in the Wilhelmsburg Inselpark; take the S3 from the main station to Wilhelmsburg and walk about ten minutes. The operator explicitly warns against using the Google Maps place "HanseRock" - the address to enter is Neuenfelder Straße 31.
Climbing gloves are compulsory. They cost 3.50 € on site, and you may bring your own. The weight limit is 120 kg.
There are no exceptions on the minimum age. The operator answers the question about the unusually big child in its FAQ with a plain no: six years, no leeway. From 14 you may climb unaccompanied, with a signed declaration of consent.
Climbing goes on in rain and snow too, only thunderstorms and gales interrupt it. The operator is Schattenspringer GmbH from Bielefeld, which runs four more sites in Lower Saxony.

The climbing season runs from March to November. During the Easter, Whitsun and autumn holidays of Hamburg and Lower Saxony it opens daily from 10 am to 6 pm, and from 13 June to 23 September daily from 10 am to 7 pm. The last briefing starts two hours before closing, and anyone with a reservation has to be at the till 20 minutes beforehand. For school classes, companies and other large groups the operator also opens outside the season.
