Kletterwald Hoherodskopf
Schotten · Hessen · from age 7
You climb on the largest continuous basalt massif in Europe – what is left of a volcano that was once the continent's biggest.
What makes Kletterwald Hoherodskopf special
The ground itself is the real record. The Hoherodskopf belongs to the Vogelsberg, the largest continuous basalt massif in Europe and the remains of what was once the continent's biggest volcano. Climbing here means hanging in trees rooted in cooled lava.
The combination ticket takes around 30 % off and throws in two attractions: climbing forest plus one ride on the summer toboggan run, with the treetop walk and minigolf free. 35.50 € instead of the separate prices.
On weekdays it opens for groups only, from 15 people and by arrangement. Families should plan for the weekend.
The family ticket counts adults, not children: 24 € with one adult, 46 € with two, and each child of your own at 19.50 €. With three children that is markedly cheaper than single tickets.
Spectators enter free, and every price includes the briefing, equipment and three hours of climbing – the operator explicitly calls that its commitment to transparency.
For the boldest there is a new professional course.
