What makes Cerwood special

Cerwood sits at around 1,000 metres near Cervarezza Terme in the Reggio Apennines. The operator calls it the first adventure park in Emilia-Romagna and today the largest in Italy; the same company also runs Parco Avventura Cavaioni in Bologna.

Teenagers and adults from 140 cm have 16 courses: four compulsory practice courses, four easy, four medium – among them Orange with seven zip lines across the whole park – and the hard Nero and Super Nero. The Percorso Impossibile reaches 25 metres and ends with a slide of more than 60 metres; the Grande Tirola is a single 100-metre zip line. Safety relies on “smart” carabiners on a continuous lifeline.

The eleven baby and junior courses are meant for children from 100 to 140 cm and stay no more than two and a half metres off the ground. Parents follow from below and then pay nothing; anyone wanting to help four-year-olds on the course buys a reduced companion ticket. The children's ticket includes the play area with bouncy castles, sandpit and go-kart track for the whole day.

Four hours instead of the usual two or three is how long the course ticket lasts, and for 10 € it can be extended by another four. Climbing runs from early April to early November, daily in summer. There is also archery, a tubby run, mini golf, a restaurant and a tree house four metres up in a beech where you can spend the night.
