What makes Hochseilgarten Hotel FIT special

The ropes course belongs to Hotel FIT in Much in the Bergisches Land, a house that has been built around accessibility for decades. It is the most thorough expression of that idea in this whole directory.

Germany's first zip line for wheelchair users was opened here on 24 September 2010. From the starting point eight metres up it runs 80 metres down to the car park – in the wheelchair, not beside it. The Kämpgen Foundation in Cologne largely funded the build.

Then there is the wheelchair bridge, also eight metres up: two narrow wooden rails over the drop, crossed sitting in the chair. A block and tackle brings you up to the starting platform.

The ropes course had already run for five years before the zip line and was used from the start by people with and without disabilities together. What counts is not climbing performance but trust and team spirit.

Booking does not go through the hotel but through Natur bewegt e.V., the partner that provides the trained instructors. Catering and accommodation are then ordered from the hotel. Neither of the two publishes a price for the ropes course on its own.
