What makes the Klettergarten im Wildwald special

This is not course climbing. The operator writes it on every programme page and points to its own FAQ for it: here you climb top rope, with the group belaying each other from the ground. Anyone expecting a lap from platform to platform is in the wrong place.

The elements are real height all the same. The choice includes the Team Bridge at nine metres, whose beams the group steers remotely from below, the Giant Swing, the Jacob's ladder, the ladder jump, the base jump, the catwalk and climbing trees fitted with bolted-on holds. Two or three of them are picked per programme.

Three hours, fixed group sizes. School classes, clubs and leisure groups from year five pay 18 € per person with at least 20 participants, adult groups from eight people pay 23 €. Both prices include admission to the Wildwald Vosswinkel.

The operator is Kräftespiel, a non-profit company from Arnsberg that runs the same programmes at several youth hostels in Westphalia. The Wildwald is its largest site.
