What makes Kletterwald Haltern special
16 courses are available: three briefing courses, three kids' courses and ten high ones. The briefing courses are not an afterthought here but stations of their own — first-time climbers practise close to the ground first.
The kids' course starts at five with no height limit, and one adult may accompany five children from the ground. For birthday parties that is a different ratio from the usual one-to-two rule.
Beyond climbing there is archery and there are three outdoor exit games on the same grounds. If your group is mixed and not everyone wants to climb, there is an alternative here that is not called waiting.
Reservation is compulsory — a climbing slot has to be booked in advance, and groups of ten or more go through the group enquiry. Climbing time is three and a half hours.

For children: The kids' course is open from five with no height limit; one adult accompanies up to five children from the ground. The high courses require age eight and 1.30 m, with a 130 kg weight limit. From eight to ten an adult climbs along with up to three children, from eleven to twelve accompaniment is enough, and from 13 you climb in pairs.

During the North Rhine-Westphalian holidays it opens daily from 10 am to 8 pm. The desk closes about two hours before, and in autumn closing time follows sunset.
