What makes Nordseekletterpark Borkum special

You can simply turn up. The operator reserves harnesses only for groups of ten or more; families and individuals come without booking. Briefings run all day as needed, with no fixed times. That is now the exception in this directory – many sites want an online booking, and at Bad Marienberg it is compulsory.

Five minutes' walk from the station. The park sits in the spa gardens directly behind the Kulturinsel. On a North Sea island with barely any car traffic that is not a detail but the normal way to arrive.

Islanders get the discount. The 2 € reduction applies to pupils over 18, students – and explicitly to people who live on the island. We have found no other local-resident discount like it in this directory.

Climbing goes ahead in the rain. The operator says so explicitly; operations stop only for storms or thunder.

You do not need gloves. In spring and autumn the operator still recommends them – not for the ropes but against the wind.

The safety system allows only one carabiner to open at a time. The site is built to EN standard and was certified by TÜV Thüringen.

Sturdy closed shoes are required – trekking sandals explicitly not allowed.
