What makes Seilpark Bern special
The park sits at the entrance to the Dählhölzli woods by Thunplatz, about ten minutes from the main station by tram 7 or 8 or bus 19 and 28. It is run by Ropetech GmbH. A curiosity: according to the operator, the path to the park may not be signposted; the address for the sat nav is Thunplatz 17.
Seven self-belay courses at 4 to 23 metres lead across around 120 platforms; the operator speaks of about 3,000 metres of active route. There are also three kids' courses A, B and C on a continuous belay system, and the Powerfan jump from 30 metres.
Preparation is compulsory: every visitor has to register in advance. Anyone wanting courses 1 to 7 watches the instruction video once a season, passes the theory test (also online) and completes the practice course. Under 18s need written consent from a parent. Climbing alone is not allowed – there are always at least two of you.
Long season: open from late March to mid-November, on Wednesdays and weekends in the early and late season. Admission is free on your birthday, and from the second visit in the same season you get CHF 5 off.

For children: The three kids' courses are for ages 4 to 9 (up to 40 kg). Courses 1 to 7 are open from eight, with P3 to P5 recommended from ten and P6/P7 from twelve. Under twelve you always climb with an adult companion, who may look after at most four children.
