Waldklettergarten Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen
Stuttgart · Baden-Württemberg · from age 7
Stuttgart's only inner-city forest ropes course, running in Zuffenhausen since 2011. Eight courses with over 80 elements, their difficulty measured in squirrels — from one to four.
What makes Waldklettergarten Zuffenhausen special
The site lies in Zuffenhausen and is, by its own account, Stuttgart's only inner-city forest ropes course. Running since June 2011 and reachable by light rail — a climbing park that does not require leaving the city.
Difficulty is measured in squirrels. One squirrel means easy, four means very demanding. That is more charming than the usual colour scales and instantly clear to children.
The reach height of 1.60 metres is the real hurdle. It is not body height that counts but how high you get with an outstretched arm — and 1.60 m is considerably more than most sites ask. Arriving with seven-year-olds, check this first, or only the two introductory courses at one metre remain.
Three and a half hours of climbing time is more generous than the three-hour standard, harness and briefing included.
In groups every tenth person climbs free, and families of three or more get 2 € off each ticket. Annual passes cost between 119 and 169 €.
There is currently no catering on site; barbecue areas lie in the neighbouring Zuffenhausen city park. Monday is usually a rest day, and the season runs from March to November.
