What makes Kletterwald Blomberg special

The Blomberg near Bad Tölz is a well-known day-trip mountain — summer toboggan run, chairlift, walking paths. The climbing park sits in the middle of it, which makes it one of the sites that combines easily with a day on the mountain.

The safety system is the biggest difference to many other parks: LockD is a communicating system, its two carabiners coupled so that only one can ever open. Unclipping completely on a course is technically impossible. For parents climbing with children for the first time, that removes most of the worry.

Ten courses cover the usual range of difficulty, and the operator claims the title of Germany's highest ropes course. Rental equipment — helmet, harness, safety set — is included in every rate, which is not always stated this plainly elsewhere.

On price, the day of the week matters: on Wednesdays a visit costs 20 € per head from three people upwards, regardless of age. That is the cheapest route for families with older children, who otherwise pay the adult rate. Public holidays are excluded.

The season opens at Easter; heavy rain, storms or thunder close the site.
