What makes Kletterwald Lützen special
It was the first in Saxony-Anhalt. Opened in 2008, right beside the Gustavus Adolphus memorial in Lützen's Martzschpark – where the Battle of Lützen was fought in 1632.
79 climbing elements across five courses, from net bridges and swaying planks to the Tarzan rope. There is also a snowboard high in the trees, climbing walls and zip lines up to 50 metres long.
The Tarzan jump crosses twelve metres into a net.
Getting in costs extra at first – but only temporarily. The climbing forest can only be reached via the car park at the memorial, where the animal park charges 2 € for adults and 0.50 € for children. If you only want to climb, you get that refunded at the climbing park till on presentation of the receipt and then leave the woods on the short path towards the restaurant. If you also want to visit the animal park, keep the receipt. This arrangement is unique in the directory, and it appears twice on the website – it evidently prompts a lot of questions.
Booking is worth it. The operator points out that capacity is limited and that turning up unannounced does not always work.
Climbing time is 150 minutes, companions enter the grounds free, and from six people the birthday child climbs free.
Gloves cost 3 € if you bring none of your own.
