Kletterwald Spessart

Heigenbrücken · Bayern · from age 3

A climbing park at the Heigenbrücken wildlife park in the Spessart, with a children's course from age three and a flying fox run of more than 600 metres. Climbing requires an online booking.

What makes Kletterwald Spessart special

The site sits right by the Heigenbrücken wildlife park, which splits the outing neatly for smaller children: anyone who cannot or does not want to climb goes to see the animals. Parking is free and there is a kiosk next door.

The children's course starts at three and is deliberately low — twelve elements up to one and a half metres. It is not a stripped-down version of the main course but a round of its own for children under 1.35 metres.

From 1.35 metres the red course begins, fifteen elements at seven to ten metres. Children under twelve may only go up with an adult alongside.

Climbing is possible only with an online booking. Turn up on the day and you will find the gate closed — unlike most other sites in this directory. Spectators and accompanying adults do not need to register.

Climbing time is two and a half hours, including registration, briefing and equipment. Gloves with closed fingers are mandatory, as is a hygiene cloth under the helmet.

In season it opens Fridays from 1 to 6 pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am to 6 pm; during the holidays daily from 11 am.
