What makes Kletterwald Vaterstetten special

Anyone living in Munich has several climbing parks to choose from. Vaterstetten is the largest at 21,000 square metres, east of the city and easy to reach by S-Bahn.

Night climbing is the real distinction. The last briefing starts at 9 pm and climbing runs until midnight, head torch on, between the trees. It costs 4.50 € extra and is a genuinely different thing from the same course in the afternoon: you only see what the beam picks out, and distances suddenly read differently.

Starting at three is rare. The separate children's course costs 16.90 € and is aimed at children for whom the regular heights are still too much.

On price, keep an eye on the day: weekends and public holidays add 4.50 € per person, which is 18 € for a family of four. Families of three or more get 2 € back on each ticket. School classes pay between 15 and 22 € depending on year group.

All rates cover three hours of climbing time.
