Mosel Adventure Forest

Traben-Trarbach · Rheinland-Pfalz · from age 5

14 courses with over 200 elements on the Mont Royal above Traben-Trarbach, plus a zip line course totalling more than 1.5 kilometres. There is a genuine day ticket – and cash only.

What makes Mosel Adventure Forest special

14 courses with over 200 climbing elements on the Mont Royal high above the Mosel bend at Traben-Trarbach – one of the largest sites in Rhineland-Palatinate.

The zip line course totals more than 1.5 kilometres. The operator calls it Europe's first canopy trail. There is also a 14-metre climbing tower and a twelve-metre pamper pole.

There is a genuine day ticket. For one and a half times the three-hour price you may stay from 11 am to 6 pm – 45 € rather than 30 € for adults. That is rare in this directory; most sites sell time slots only and charge on for each further half hour.

Discounts come in four steps – 1 € from three paying family members, 1 € from four participants, 1.50 € from eight and 2 € from fifteen.

There is no card payment. The operator explicitly asks for cash and points to the cash machines in Traben-Trarbach. Above 100 € it can issue an invoice in exceptional cases. That puts the site in a pattern we met repeatedly while researching – Saalburg, Blankenburg and Hainich are cash-only too.

Entry to the grounds is free. If you are not climbing you can wait on the roof terrace over coffee and cake.

For groups of 15 or more and school classes the park can open from 9 am.

A note on opening hours: the operator does keep a season calendar but writes that short-notice changes appear only in the news area of the home page. In spring and autumn it closes at dusk.
