Kletterwald Hainich

Kammerforst · Thüringen · from age 5

Eleven courses with over 140 elements on the edge of Hainich National Park, up to 17 metres high, with a 120-metre zip line and a jump from a seven-metre platform.

What makes Kletterwald Hainich special

Eleven courses with over 140 climbing elements at heights from one to 17 metres – one of the largest sites in Thuringia.

The zip line runs 120 metres, and there is a jump from a seven-metre platform. The operator also lists a Tarzan swing and wobbly bridges.

The setting by Hainich National Park is more than scenery: the Hainich is Germany's largest continuous deciduous forest and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011. The climbing park sits at Kammerforst on its edge.

People with disabilities get the reduced rate. The 1 € discount applies equally to students, apprentices, people with disabilities and groups from ten. That is not the same as accessibility – the operator says nothing about the technical requirements – but it shows the question is expected. More on our page about accessible high ropes courses.

The family rates make a real difference. Two adults with two children save 17 €, bringing a family visit down from 82 € to 65 €.

Gloves have to be brought or bought. The operator asks for this explicitly. Practice differs from site to site – at Kletterpark Wipperia in the Harz they are compulsory and cost 4.50 €.

Briefings start on the hour, the last at 4 pm. Be there a quarter of an hour beforehand; last admission is two hours before closing.
