What makes Seilgarten Hannover special
Climbing along is cheaper than watching and then joining in. Parents and chaperones who go up into the trees pay 29 € – other adults 39 €. We have found this grading nowhere else, and it says something about the place.
The Hannover Aktiv-Pass halves the price. Children and teenagers up to 18 then pay 10.50 € instead of 21 €. No further reductions are given – but this one bites properly.
Belaying is top-rope by trained instructors, not by a self-belay system. Depending on the programme, participants take on belay duties themselves under guidance – including those who do not want to climb.
Challenge by choice is more than a slogan here: anyone who would rather not climb, or climb less, is involved from the ground. Joining in and pausing is possible at any time, even for a few metres.
Helmets are compulsory across the whole site – including for visitors and chaperones who do not climb at all.
There is no car park. The operator recommends the tram to Lister Platz. For a site in the middle of the Eilenriede that is deliberate, not an oversight.
Six organisations run the course between them, from open youth work, sport, youth associations and youth welfare, inclusive education and schools. The focus is on groups from year 5 up; the open family sessions are the smaller programme.

For children: The minimum age is nine. Exceptions are possible case by case at family events and for after-school groups during the holidays, and have to be arranged.
